Who doesn’t love winning? Whether it’s the three-legged race on sports day or a luxury prize in a competition, being a winner is a great feeling. And it’s even better if what you win is an award in recognition for something you have excelled at. The team at Create Business Properties are incredibly proud to have received a number of awards over the years (Innovation in Business, SME Scottish Enterprise Award to name a couple). But it seems our business community here at Create is full of winners too.

We recently heard from a couple of tenants with exciting awards pending, and it got us thinking about just how many awards our wonderful business hub collectively holds. Well, we haven’t got around to counting them all, but having had an initial review, we were hugely impressed with the haul! In this article, we’re celebrating some of our award-winning tenants.

Earlier this month, we spoke to a very excited Diana Baker from Diana Baker (from Diana Baker Photography) who had just been informed that she is a finalist in The 5th Scottish Women’s Awards in the Small Business of the Year category. A very well-deserved nomination for all the amazing work she does, and we have everything crossed for her success.

And Craig Wood Catering have also heard that their business is up for another award to add to their impressive collection. Having been named a winner at The Scottish Food Awards in 2016 and a finalist in the VOW awards for 2 years running, they are now up for three titles in this year’s Scottish Confetti Awards – we wish them every luck.

The dedication of the Bluebird Care Edinburgh team paid off this year when they were listed in Homecare.co.uk’s Edinburgh Top 20 and they celebrated with cake. And they weren’t our only tenants named – the wonderful team at Home Instead Edinburgh East were also listed as top 20 care providers, recognition for a truly caring, professional, and dedicated team.

Innovative energy storage solutions provider, StorTera also have a long list of accolades to their name. The pioneering business itself was set up as a result of winning SMART funding back in 2014 and since then they’ve received a number of prestigious awards, including Business Innovation of the Year by Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce and 2022 winner of The Power Forward Challenge for their smart grid solutions in Berwick, Canada.

We know first-hand the amazing quality of the coffee and tea from our tenants at Red Box Coffee (if you haven’t tried it, you should), but it’s good to see our humble opinion is backed up by a host of accreditations from The Great Taste Awards. Check them all out here.

It’s always good to see worthwhile work being rewarded. Our tenants at Edinburgh Food Social are dedicated to creating change in the way we see and use our food by educating and inspiring people on fresh, local and delicious produce. Their dedication has paid off as they’ve been recognised for a number of awards over the years, including the Andrew Farlie Award for Excellence in 2021 and the Food Hero Scotland Award 2021 – we’re sure there will be plenty more to come.

With a focus on the environment, family-run Garland’s Florist has been in business for over 30 years, supplying flowers for every occasion, but it was for their corporate work that they won recognition, being awarded the Corporate Florist of The Year in the Edinburgh Prestige Awards n 2020. Judge Andrew Walsh commented: “Through their many years of experience, Jennifer and Gillian are able to provide a personal service that is tailored to meet the individual needs of each client. They are renowned for being compassionate and approachable whilst also displaying an attention to detail that is second-to-none.” We couldn’t agree more.

Total dedication to providing a top-quality service paid off for our tenants at Newtown Renovations when they were awarded Best Upscale Home Renovations Business in Midlothian at the 2021 Scottish Enterprise Awards. The judges recognised the skill and care that goes into the team’s renovations and restorations of properties, old and new.

We are brimming with pride thinking about all the awards listed above, the ones we haven’t mentioned and, of course, the numerous ones to be awarded to our tenants in the future. It just goes to show again what a hidden gem of talent and enterprise Create Business Properties is, but we don’t need a trophy to tell us how amazing our community of tenants are – we see it every day!
