Edinburgh is world-famous for many things, but undoubtedly the food and drink produced here is something to be celebrated. In fact, food and drink is one of the largest industry sectors in Scotland. According to the Food and Drink Federation of Scotland, the industry has a turnover of £10.4 billion, accounting for 30% of total Scottish manufacturing.

What is particularly heartening is that the Federation states that 95% of Scotland’s food and drink production businesses are SMEs. In Edinburgh, thousands of people are employed by small businesses in food and drink production. 

These innovative and dedicated businesses have shown resilience in recent years by surviving through the thread of the pandemic and Brexit. Now, with the cost of living crisis starting to bite and the country heading into a new recession, again, our food and drink businesses are once again facing difficult times.

Archipelago Artisan Bakery

If you’re passionate about bread, you must visit  Archipelago’s organic bakery on Edinburgh’s Dundas Street. Since 2014 they have been creating truly amazing baked goods using organic ingredients. Founder Caroline has grown the business with a real passion for their produce and they also offer bread and sweet treats wholesale to other suppliers.

Casa Roble – Spanish Street Food

If you ever wander around the Sunday Stockbridge market, you won’t fail to see (and smell) the mouthwatering selection of Paella on offer from our new tenant Casa Roble. They create their traditional Spanish street food for sale at markets in and around Edinburgh, bringing a taste of Spain even on the coldest of days.

Craig Wood Catering

Whether for weddings, celebrations or corporate functions, our award-winning tenants at Craig Wood Catering provide sumptuous hot meals, buffets and bar services all around Edinburgh and the Lothians. Planning an easy Christmas or new year? They also deliver full meals ready to be popped in the oven to delight your guests – easy! 

Dough Re Mi – bakery & Pizza

More baking magic from this talented tenant who specialises in fantastic cupcake creations! But if you prefer a savoury bite, they also make amazing sourdough pizzas too – you’re spoilt for choice!

Edinburgh Food Social – Restaurant and Social Enterprise

A pioneering organisation with a positive impact, Edinburgh Food Social is a social enterprise that teaches young people and communities about the value of local, seasonal food. Their culinary projects give people the knowledge and understanding to cook with confidence – they even have their own seasonal gin! Look out for their regular supper clubs for an opportunity to dine and do good! 

Red Box- Sustainable Tea & Coffee Producers

Definitely one for all you coffee aficionados! Our tenants at Red Box Coffee are on a mission to improve the quality of the coffee and tea offered in Scotland and beyond. All their ingredients are sustainably farmed and sourced and they’re proud to put people & Planet ahead of profit. Whether you’re enjoying a cuppa in their Marchmont Cafe or ordering from their website, you can enjoy it knowing that it’s been created with heart and passion.

Quirky Gifts – Designer Artisan Chocolatarium

Our very own Willy Wonkas, we love that every day, the brilliant team at Quirky Gifts are creating exciting bespoke chocolate bars right here at Create Business Properties. Led by the visionary Sandra, they believe that whatever the occasion, there’s chocolate for it! Browse their website and you’ll find all manner of artisan chocolate gifts, guaranteed to raise a smile. With packaging designed by independent artists, it’s almost too beautiful to eat. Almost.
